The social factors that most impacted the scenario I found where low income, bullying, peer pressure, parent’s expectations and role playing, and high income. I think high income is a social factor because the parents that have a high income do not seem to know what to do with their money. All they know is to bully the other kids. An example of the high income is where there were rumors that three parents of the boys are renting a limousine. Not everyone can afford to rent a limousine. An example of the low income is because several lower socioeconomic backgrounds said they will boycott the dance. They said they will boycott the dance because they cannot afford the coat-and-tie attire. The lower income students also believe that who favor the coat and tie attire is only the “nerds” and “geeks.”

hows that so far?

Great!

A solution for the renting the limousine is maybe the school can have a reward in order to get a limousine if you cannot afford one. For example the school could have where if the students are on the honor roll or maybe not failing a class, get a limousine ride. The school could hold fundraisers in order to get the money to rent a limousine. If the school does not want to do fundraisers maybe they can find a limousine company and see if they will donate their time to drive the limousine. Not everyone can afford to rent a limousine. An example of the low income is because several lower socioeconomic backgrounds said they will boycott the dance. They said they will boycott the dance because they cannot afford the coat-and-tie attire. If the students could not afford to the coat and tie attire they students could hold a clothing drive. The clothing drive could be where the community can donate any of their dresses and coats and ties to the school. The students that could not afford the suit and tie attire could also ask their friends and family members if they have any they can use. The lower income students also believe that who are in favor the coat and tie attire are only the “nerds” and “geeks.”

Your answer is o.k. But I vigorously disagree with your solution.

Sixth graders have no business renting tuxes and riding in limousines. That parental pressure forces them to grow up far far too fast.

I suggest that the administrators meet with the parents who are pushing this nonsense and ask them to back off. They could explain that it's against school policy and the dress code to wear such fancy clothes for dances for this age.

good thinking. thank you

You're welcome. :-)

Your analysis of the social factors impacting the scenario appears to be well thought out. You have identified several factors such as low income, bullying, peer pressure, parent's expectations and role playing, and high income. You have also provided specific examples to support your analysis.

To further explain these social factors and their impact on the scenario, let's break them down and understand them individually.

1. Low income: This social factor refers to individuals or families who have a lower socioeconomic status, meaning they have limited financial resources. In the scenario you mentioned, students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds expressed difficulties affording the coat-and-tie attire for the dance. This creates a divide between those who can afford it and those who can't, leading to feelings of exclusion and possibly reinforcing stereotypes like "nerds" and "geeks" associated with the coat and tie attire.

2. Bullying: Bullying is a form of aggressive behavior that involves unwanted, repetitive actions by an individual or group towards another person. In this scenario, high-income parents are reported to bully other kids. Bullying can have severe negative consequences on the overall social environment by creating a hostile and unwelcoming atmosphere. It can perpetuate a cycle of exclusion and discrimination.

3. Peer pressure: Peer pressure refers to the influence that peers or social groups can have on an individual's behavior and decision-making. In the context of your scenario, peer pressure may contribute to the division between those who favor and those who oppose the coat-and-tie attire. Students who belong to particular social circles or groups might feel pressure to conform to certain expectations, leading to stigmatization of those who choose not to comply.

4. Parent's expectations and role playing: Parents play a significant role in shaping their child's behavior and attitudes. In this scenario, high-income parents are depicted as not knowing what to do with their money, resorting to bullying behavior. This suggests that some parents may prioritize material wealth and social status over fostering positive values and behaviors. These expectations and behaviors can influence how their children perceive and interact with others.

5. High income: High income refers to individuals or families who possess substantial financial resources. While high income itself may not be a negative social factor, it is how individuals with high income utilize their resources and interact with others that can impact the social dynamics. In the scenario, the rumor of parents renting a limousine highlights a display of wealth that further exacerbates the divide between socioeconomic groups, potentially leading to feelings of exclusion and resentment.

By understanding these social factors and how they interact with one another, we can gain insight into the dynamics at play in the scenario. It allows us to identify potential underlying issues and work towards creating a more inclusive and cohesive social environment.
