I have to complete a course selection form for school but I'm having some trouble understanding some of the courses. Can someone please help me please?

Science and Technology:

This is a science course provided to meet the needs of students requiring a general science course rather than the more in-depth study of t he traditional sciences. The course will provide students with an appreciation of the interaction of science, technology and society. It will look at technology as an application of science and will help students develop the ability to respond critically to technological issues.

Can someone please clarify/explain what this course is about? What I'll be learning in this course? I don't quite understand the description.

Thanks for very much for help.

It sounds like a course that will teach you very little about science and technology, but instead fulfill the minimum distribution requirements towards your degree. I do not recommend it.

I would pick introductory biology, "physical science", astronomy or computer science instead. Give yourself a chance to develop a real understanding of the scientific method and "how things work". You might even like it.

I agree with DrWLS. It sounds very much like dribble, full of words, but teaching you little substance. Why would anyone seek out easy teachers, or easy subjects?

Oh yeah I took it and it SUCKS. Dont do it!!!!

The Science and Technology course is designed for students who want a general understanding of science without delving into each specific scientific discipline in great detail. This course aims to help students appreciate the connection between science, technology, and society as a whole.

In this course, you will explore how technology is the practical application of scientific knowledge. You will learn to analyze and evaluate various technological issues from a critical perspective. This means you will develop the ability to assess the benefits, drawbacks, and ethical considerations associated with different technologies.

Throughout the course, you may study topics such as the impact of technology on the environment, the role of technology in healthcare, the ethical implications of technological advancements, and the influence of technology on social structures, among others.

In summary, Science and Technology will provide you with a broader understanding of the role science plays in society and how technology is developed and used. This course will help you become a critical thinker when it comes to evaluating and responding to the technological issues that shape our world.
