This is definitely not homework. I just want to know what would be the best book for preparing my self for the SAT.

Perhaps you could start here:

You have not mentioned the specific area. Tell us what area this is: Math, Science, English, Foreign Language, etc. and I have sites for AP, IP, Sat (PSAT), ACT, etc.

In my experience, if you go to Barnes Noble,or a college bookstore, the SAT prep manuals they have are good, and work. You do have to commit to going through them, and doing the exercises. Use flashcards to memorize the vocab words (all 700 of them), make certain the math areas flow easily for you. Work on those areas in math that it doesn't flow.

Now on the readings, learn to highlight as you read. If you don't know how (some students paint the entire page), there are online resources to help you get very good at active reading. Here is the best (written by a colleague of mine):

For preparing yourself for the SAT, there are several highly recommended books that can help you improve your scores. One of the most popular and well-regarded books is "The Official SAT Study Guide," which is published by the College Board, the organization that creates and administers the SAT. This book contains eight official practice tests, along with detailed explanations for each question and useful test-taking strategies.

Another highly recommended book is "The Princeton Review's Cracking the SAT." This book offers strategies, practice questions, and comprehensive content review.

"Barron's SAT" is another book that many students find helpful. It provides comprehensive content review, useful strategies, and multiple practice tests.

When selecting a book, it's a good idea to consider your specific needs and learning style. Some students find certain books more user-friendly or better aligned with their learning preferences. Additionally, it's important to rely on multiple resources for preparation, such as online practice tests, SAT prep websites, and other study materials.

Remember that while a prep book can be an excellent resource, consistent practice and diligent studying are the keys to success on the SAT.
