a line passes through (5,-2) and is parallel to y=3x find the equation of the line ??
Use the standard format for you equation:
y = mx + b
The slope (m) must = 3 for the line to be parallel to y = 3x
Therefore y = 3x + b
Choose b so that y = -2 when x = 5. That will make it pass through the point (5, -2).
