if a boy is carrying a mass of 2-kg on and covers a distance of 2m in the direction of the force?

You have not asked a complete question.

If you want to know how much work he does moving the mass, it is -2kg *g *2m = -(4 kg*m)*g = -39.2 Joules

It is negative because he is letting "the force" (which is presumably the weight) push it in the direction of the gravity force.
