When presented 1/4 N as data in a problem is this considered to be one significan figure becasue it is presented in the form of a fraction were there's only one significant figure. I'm asking this becasue if you converted it to a decimal you would have .25 N which would would be two significant figuers.

So I'm woundering what the rule is for significant figuers for when data is presented in a fraction form.

Thank You.

The rule is one sig figure. However, I suspect the fraction 1/4 is an exact number, as in one fourth, so consider the 1/4 as infinitely precise, so your precision rests upon N
