Compare and Contrast Essay

I need to add one more paragraph before the conclusion, but I'm not sure what it's going to be about. Can someone please help me?

One couple I know that has a very successful relationship is my parents. They have been together for almost 20 years, have five kids, and are very happy together. Looking from the outside, we’re a very happy and content family. However, this doesn’t mean that we don’t have problems or quarrels about things in our house. In a house filled with four teenage kids and a two-month-old baby, you can imagine how many arguments take place. But overall, somehow we manage to stay together as a family and live in harmony. The credits for this goes fully to my parents, who help us go through with our good and bad times.

There are many things that my parents have in common and those are the things that make life easier for them. For one thing, they are both very quiet and shy sort of people. Neither of them likes going to parties or socializing as much as most people do. Another thing that can be said about them is that they are both very trustworthy and honest. They are a very hardworking couple, each in their own field of work. These are a few traits and characteristics that they share in common as a couple.

Along with the similarities, there are definitely many differences that they share as well. A very common difference is that my dad loves to eat desserts and needs something sweet after every meal. On the other hand, my mom doesn’t come near anything sweet and chooses to eat healthier. Also, my dad likes being out of the house a lot, mostly running errands such as grocery shopping, or getting the cars repaired, or just driving around. My mother is the complete opposite of this; she prefers to stay at home doing her errands such as cooking, cleaning, and looking after the baby.

The saying “opposites attract” is primarily the reason why my parents are able to live together happily. Despite their many differences, my parents still get along well as a couple. This is because, the qualities that my dad doesn’t have, my mom provides. Likewise, the good qualities and traits that my mom doesn’t have, my father provides. That is why they have a perfect and wonderful marriage.

You could explain how your parents help the family go through good and bad times. Give some specific examples.

Sounds good. Thanks!

Do you think there are any mistakes that need to be fixed in the essay so far?

Perfect Marriage? OK, what do they say is right and wrong with the marriage? What are the keys they can pass on to you?

To add a paragraph before the conclusion, you can focus on the challenges that your parents have faced in their relationship and how they have overcome them. Here's a suggestion:

One of the challenges that my parents have faced in their relationship is the difference in their communication styles. My dad is more direct and straightforward in expressing his thoughts and feelings, while my mom is more reserved and tends to be more passive in her communication. This has led to misunderstandings and miscommunications at times. However, they have learned to bridge this gap by actively listening to each other and making an effort to understand the other person's perspective. They have also developed effective communication strategies, such as setting aside designated times to talk and resolving conflicts in a calm and respectful manner. By constantly working on their communication skills, my parents have been able to strengthen their bond and maintain a harmonious relationship.

In this paragraph, you can share a specific challenge that your parents have faced, such as differences in communication styles. You can explain how they have addressed this challenge and emphasize the importance of effective communication in a relationship. By highlighting their ability to overcome obstacles, you can further demonstrate the strength and success of their relationship.
