In movies like “Speed”, hidden ramps are used to make seemingly impossible jumps across open spaces. Suppose a vehicle, say a bus (8500 kg), drives up a ramp such that it leaves the ramp with Vi = 30.0 m/s (about 67 mph) at an angle of 20.0o. What is the maximum open space (chasm) the bus safely jump if it lands at the same height at which it took off? If the ramp was not there, is there any physical way the Bus would land safely?
If I were a bus, I would not ignore air friction.
