I cant remeber how to do this but think i need to find a common denominator?

  1. No, 'common denominator' is what you do when adding fractions. This is algebra.

    Are you sure the first equation isn't
    x + 6Y = 19?
    What you have written as the first equation could be simplified to x = 13.
    You could use that and the second equation to solve for y

    x+6y=19
    x-7y=-7

    Subtract the second equation from the first. That gives you

    13y = 26. Take it from there.

    Divide both sides by 13 to get y, and then use y to get x, using either of the first two equations.
