I am asked for some suggestions for investigating the distribution of limpets.

There are 2 areas to be considered 'sheltered' and 'exposed' and these may be good places to carry out the investigation. They are particularly interested in the relative frequencies of the Patella vulgata.

a) I have to propose a testable null hypothesis for this investigation.

b)suggest ONE reason for the need to sample within the 2 specific areas identified, rather than collecting data from the whole area.

c) deliberate between using transects or sampling within a representative area on each shore, choose ONE of these approaches and give ONE reason for the final choice.

d) suggest ONE limitation of sample collection and say how it can be avoided.

Please help me as I am reall stuck.

Thank you for your help. I worked out most of it. However I am still unsure of:

a) why should we collect data from the 2 specific areas (exposed and sheltered) and not from the whole area??

b) which method is better: transects or sampling and why?

I can't find the answer to any of these anywhere.
