What's the difference between a marketing consortia and a hotel refferal system?

(I looked up the definition of the singular form (consortia = plural form).) When you put the two words together, you should easily be able to explain what a marketing consortium is.
It should not be that hard to explain what a hotel referral (note the correct spelling) system is. Look up the words separately if you need to.
