Scroll DOWN to the Verbs section and find the two links for this verb. Also, the section on Pronouns might be of help.

If you still have questions, post again this afternoon, and wait for an answer by our resident French teacher, SraJMcGin.

Let's look at subject pronouns first.

je (j') = I
tu = you, singular, familiar
il = he, it (For masculine object)
elle = she, it (for feminine subject)
on = one, people, "we"
nous = we
vous = you-all, either singular formal or plural
ils = they (masc.)
elles = they (fem.)

Now let's look at avoir - to have
j'ai - I have, do have, am having
tu as = you have, do have, are having
il a = he (it) has, does have, is having
elle a = she (it) has, does have, is having
on a = "we" or people, etc. have, do have, are having

nous avons = we have, do have, are having
vous avez = you have, do have, are having
ils ont = they have, do have, are having
elles ont = they have, do have, are having

Note that the "e" of "je" is dropped when followed by a vowel (a, e, i, o, u, silent h)

Depending upon what kind of learner you are: oral (you need to HEAR what you are learning), visual (you need to SEE what you are learning
kinesthetic = you need to physically "walk" through what you are learning.

When you get to être, the 3rd person plural form can be confused with avoir.
ils ont = they have
ils sont = they are (hear the sibilant "s")

Note also that most verbs will have 3 possible English meanings for the same form.

Feel free to ask any other question you may have.
