I live about an hour's drive from Niagara Falls, and go there about 6 times a year.

I avoid all the tourist traps and don't even go to the actual falls anymore, and my favourite part is the area below the whirlpool gorge.
You can hike to the bottom of the river, where there are about 15 km of trails through a Tolkien-like forest area, moss-covered bolders the size of houses creating a wonderland.
99% of the tourists don't even know about that part of the Falls area.

The Niagara Falls, located on the border of the United States and Canada, consists of three waterfalls: the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls. Here are the physical and human features of the Niagara Falls:

Physical Features:
1. Water Volume: Niagara Falls has the highest flow rate and volume of any waterfall in North America. It is estimated that around 3,160 tons of water flow over the falls every second.
2. Height: The Horseshoe Falls has an approximately 167-foot drop, while the American Falls is about 70-100 feet tall.
3. Width: The combined width of the three falls is approximately 3,950 feet. The Horseshoe Falls, in particular, is about 2,600 feet wide.
4. Formation: The falls were formed during the last ice age, as massive glaciers receded and the Great Lakes were formed. The water from the Great Lakes flows into the Niagara River and eventually plunges over the falls.
5. Hydroelectric Power Generation: The falls are a major source of hydroelectric power. Several power plants have been constructed to harness the power of the falling water.

Human Features:
1. Tourist Attractions: The Niagara Falls area is a popular tourist destination and offers several attractions, such as the Maid of the Mist boat tour, Cave of the Winds tour, and the Niagara SkyWheel.
2. Observation Points: There are various observation points and platforms from where visitors can view the falls, such as the American Falls Observation Tower, the Journey Behind the Falls, and Queen Victoria Park.
3. Surrounding Infrastructure: The Niagara Falls region has hotels, casinos, restaurants, and entertainment venues to accommodate the influx of tourists.
4. International Border: The falls are situated on the border between the United States (specifically, New York) and Canada (specifically, Ontario), making it a significant landmark between the two countries.
5. Importance to the Local Economy: The Niagara Falls area relies heavily on tourism, with the falls being an economic driver for businesses and employment in the region.

The Niagara Falls, located on the border of the United States and Canada, exhibit both physical and human features.

Physical Features:
1. Waterfalls: The primary physical feature of the Niagara Falls is the magnificent waterfalls themselves. The falls consist of three main sections: the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls.
2. River: The falls are formed by the Niagara River, which flows from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario. The river plays a crucial role in the creation and maintenance of the falls.
3. Gorge: The Niagara River has carved a deep gorge over thousands of years, resulting in dramatic cliffs and rocky outcrops surrounding the falls.
4. Islands: There are several islands situated in the Niagara River, including Goat Island and Luna Island, which provide visitors with unique viewpoints of the falls.

Human Features:
1. Tourist Attractions: The Niagara Falls are a major tourist destination, with numerous attractions built to accommodate visitors. These include observation decks, boat tours, and the famous Maid of the Mist boat ride.
2. Infrastructure: Various structures, such as bridges, walkways, and viewing platforms, have been built to provide access and enhance the visitor experience while ensuring safety.
3. Nearby Developments: Surrounding the falls, there are hotels, restaurants, and other tourist facilities aimed at providing accommodations and entertainment options for tourists.
4. Hydroelectric Power Generation: The Niagara Falls play a significant role in providing hydroelectric power to the region. Power generation facilities, such as hydroelectric power plants, have been constructed near the falls.
