I am trying to use the Goal Seek Method in Microsoft Excel but i keep getting a message that says "Cell must contain a value".

Since the cell does contain a value what could be the error.

The error message "Cell must contain a value" in the Goal Seek method usually occurs when there is a formula or function in the cell you are trying to seek a goal for. The Goal Seek feature requires a specific value in the cell, not a formula.

To address this issue, follow these steps:

1. Double-check the cell where you want to apply Goal Seek. Ensure that it contains a direct value, not a formula or a function. If it contains a formula, convert it to a value by copying the cell and pasting it as a value in another empty cell.

2. Once you have made sure the cell contains a value, select the "Data" tab in Excel.

3. In the "Data Tools" group, click on the "What-If Analysis" button, and then select "Goal Seek" from the dropdown menu.

4. In the Goal Seek dialog box that appears, enter the desired value you want the cell to achieve in the "To value" box.

5. In the "By changing cell" box, specify the cell reference that contains the formula you want to manipulate to reach the desired value.

6. Click on the "OK" button, and Excel will attempt to find a solution that will make the cell value match your goal value by adjusting the value of the changing cell.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the "Cell must contain a value" error and successfully use the Goal Seek feature in Microsoft Excel.
