The Ice Man, also known as Ötzi, died around 5,300 years ago. He lived during the Copper Age and his remarkably well-preserved remains were discovered in the Ötztal Alps on the border between Italy and Austria in 1991. To determine the approximate time of his death, scientists used various methods including carbon dating, which analyzes the amount of carbon-14 remaining in organic material. This method indicated that Ötzi lived and died during the Copper Age, specifically in the year 3310 BC.
