Multiply

-5/9 * (6/5)

Please show me in steps I understand better this way. Not just the answer

-5/9 * (6/5) = -(30/45) = ?

well if I reduce down I believe it would be -1

How can you reduce 30/45 and come up with 1?

What is the greatest common factor of 30 and 45?

30/45 = 5 into 30 = 6 and 5 into 45 = 9

which is 6/9 reduce to 2/3 I think is what it should be?????

Check the sign!

To multiply fractions, you multiply the numerators (top numbers) together, and then multiply the denominators (bottom numbers) together. The result will be your answer.

Let's apply this method to the given problem:

1. Multiply the numerators (-5 and 6): (-5) * (6) = -30.
2. Multiply the denominators (9 and 5): (9) * (5) = 45.

Now, you have the numerator (-30) and the denominator (45).

3. Simplify the fraction, if possible. In this case, the fraction -30/45 can be simplified by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common divisor (GCD), which is 15.

Divide the numerator (-30) by 15: -30 / 15 = -2.
Divide the denominator (45) by 15: 45 / 15 = 3.

So, the simplified fraction is -2/3.

Therefore, the product of -5/9 and 6/5 is -2/3.
