The book's answer is 8, -5
How did they get that. What did i miss?
|4x-6|=26.
We don't know if x is + or - so we work it both ways.
If x>0, then
4x-6=26
4x=32
x = 8.
If x<0, then
-4x+6=26
-4x=26-6=20
4x = -20
x = -5
That is |x| = -x when x<0.
