It depends on what class you are speaking of.

For a science class you could write in outline form.
This is not the only correct way to write your notes but it's how I organize mine. Another suggestion could be to just write everything and go home and organize and that way you'd be studying at the same time, but not everyone is willing to spend the time it takes to do that.
