can someone help me solve this problem?

What is the value of x?
(3+2)(6-2)(7+1)=(4+4)(x)
(5)(4)(8)=8x
8x=160
I don't get the last part
x=20=8+12
where did the 12 come from?

Perhaps I am missing something but I think the 8 + 12 is just another way of writing 20.
If 8x = 160, then
x = 20
and we COULD write it as 8 + 12 although I don't know why we would want to do so.

ooh dur lol me nither but theres a multiple choice answer in my book and i guess that's it. Thank You

You're welcome! It seems like the answer choices in your book might be written in a specific format, which is why they've expressed x=20 as 8+12. It's possible that they are showing the equation in a simplified form, where 8x=160 is written as x=8+12 (which simplifies to x=20). In this case, 8 represents the 8 in the equation 8x=160, and 12 represents the additional value that needs to be added to 8 in order to get x=20.
