mrs sue you answered my questions yesterday.

How do you figure 8 percent of 75?

on number 2 can you tell me how 1/3 of an hour is 20 minutes?

number 3 how do you times 1 1/2 times $8.60

i get the 4th one thank you

on the last one. Im not sure how to do the math.

Another way to write 8% is .08. The word "of" means to multiply. So if you multiply 75 x .08, what is the answer?

An hour is 60 minutes. If you put 20/60 and simplify, what do you end up with?

Another way to write 1 1/2 is 1.5. So all you need to do is multiply 1.5 x 8.60. What do you get?

Here is your last problem, I think, right?

Mrs. Jones wishes to buy 72 ounces of canned beans for the least possible cost. Which of the following should she buy?

six 12-ounce cans at 39cents per can
seven 10-ounce cans at 34 cents per can
three 24-ounce cans at 79 cents per can
two 25-ounce cans at 62 cents per can

You'll need to multiply them all out and then decide. I'll do the first one for you; then you do the other three. After that, you should be able to decide which one is the best answer.

six 12-ounce cans at 39 cents per can:
This will give you 72 ounces of beans (6 x 12 = 72) for $2.34 (6 x .39).

Now figure the other three and decide which one will answer the question correctly.

Let us know what you come up with.

=)

Here's the last problem.

Mrs. Jones wishes to buy 72 ounces of canned beans for the least possible cost. Which of the following should she buy?

a. six 12-ounce cans at 39cents per can
b. seven 10-ounce cans at 34 cents per can
c. three 24-ounce cans at 79 cents per can
d. two 25-ounce cans at 62 cents per can

To solve these problems, you need to multiply the number of cans by the price for each can. We also need to look at the total number of ounces to be sure it's 72 ounces.

a. 6 cans x $.39 = $2.34 (6 x 12 = 72)
b. 7 cans at 10 ounces each = 70 ounces. That's not enough.
c. 3 cans x $.79 = $2.37
d. two 25-ounce cans is only 50 ounces.

Which is the best buy? 6 cans for $2.34 or 3 cans for $2.37?

that helps alot but how do you get the 20 in 20/60? also how do you turn a fraction like 1 1/2 or 2 3/4 into a decimal?

ok 7*10=70 7*34=2.38 so that's not as good as the first one.
3*24=72 3*79=2.37 that's almost as good as the second one.
2*25=50 2*62=1.24thats the least best choice right? so The first one would be the best choice?

Your question had the number 20 in it, right? "on number 2 can you tell me how 1/3 of an hour is 20 minutes?"

20 minutes out of 60 minutes (1 hour) = 20/60

=)

The first one is correct, yes.

=)

im sorry i have to go thank you so much for all your help everyone. You guys are a blessing that do this and help students. I can't thank you enough. Ill be back soon

oh ok duu thank you so very much!

You're very welcome. I look forward to helping you again.

Your question: "also how do you turn a fraction like 1 1/2 or 2 3/4 into a decimal?"

There are certain fractions that you can just know or memorize -- the easiest ones:

1/4 = .25
1/2 = .5
3/4 = .75
(For these first three, think of money. A quarter = $.25; a half dollar = $.50; three quarters = $.75)
1/3 = .3333333333333333...
2/3 = .66666666666666667
and all the tenths: 1/10 = .1; 2/10 = .2; etc.

All other fractions can be turned into decimals by dividing the bottom number into the top number.

Turning a fraction like 1 1/2 or 2 3/4 into a decimal can be done by dividing the numerator (top number) by the denominator (bottom number).

For example, to turn 1 1/2 into a decimal, you would divide 1 by 2: 1 ÷ 2 = 0.5.

To turn 2 3/4 into a decimal, you would divide 2 by 4: 2 ÷ 4 = 0.5.

Remember, the fraction 1/2 is equivalent to 0.5, so it's just like saying "half." And the fraction 3/4 is equivalent to 0.75, so it's three-quarters of a whole.

I hope that helps!

To convert a mixed number like 1 1/2 or 2 3/4 into a decimal, you first convert the whole number part into a decimal. For example:

1 1/2 can be written as 1 + 1/2 = 1.5 (since half is equal to 0.5)

2 3/4 can be written as 2 + 3/4 = 2.75 (since three quarters is equal to 0.75)

So, 1 1/2 is equal to 1.5 and 2 3/4 is equal to 2.75 when written as decimals.

To turn a fraction like 1 1/2 into a decimal, you can follow these steps:

1. First, convert the whole number part (1) into a fraction by placing it over the denominator (2). In this case, it would be 1/2.
2. Add the fraction part (1/2) to the converted whole number part (1/2). 1/2 + 1/2 = 2/2.
3. Simplify the fraction if possible. In this case, 2/2 can be simplified to 1/1, which is equivalent to 1.
4. The final step is to convert the fraction 1/1 into a decimal. Since the numerator is equal to the denominator, the decimal representation is 1.
