It ignores the possibility of compromise, in which various aspects (usually less important) are sacrificed so that more important aspects might be achieved. In compromise nobody gets "all," but also everyone gets something — in contrast to "nothing."
In contrast, "all or nothing" is more likely to lead to conflict and war.
