when you are multiplying exponents add.

What is 1/4 + 1/5 ?

To get the answer for "1/4 + 1/5," we need to find a common denominator for the two fractions. The common denominator is simply the smallest multiple that the denominators 4 and 5 have in common, which in this case is 20.

Now, we can rewrite both fractions with the common denominator:

1/4 = 5/20 (multiply the numerator and denominator of 1/4 by 5 to get the equivalent fraction with a denominator of 20)
1/5 = 4/20 (multiply the numerator and denominator of 1/5 by 4 to get the equivalent fraction with a denominator of 20)

Now, let's add the two fractions:

(5/20) + (4/20) = (5 + 4)/20 = 9/20

Therefore, 1/4 + 1/5 is equal to 9/20.
