Ok Reimy the question came with the ans x=3 then y=2.2, i made t he mistake and put it to two decimal places not realising tehy sequence is one, i will try to be more careful in the future.

How did you come up with 20.25 to divide by 20?

Keira, you really need to learn to spell Reiny's name correctly!!

This saves me the time to go back and find the posting which deals with the above.
I think our equation was y = 20/x^2 and you wanted y when x = 4.5

what is (4.5)^2 ??
then what is 20/(4.5)^2 ??

To understand how the value 20.25 is obtained, let's break down the process step by step.

To find the value 20.25, we start with the given values of x = 3 and y = 2.2. From these values, it seems like you might be working with an equation or some kind of mathematical relationship.

If we assume that the equation involves a division, we can start by dividing x by y: 3 ÷ 2.2 = 1.363636363...

At this point, it appears that the resulting value is a repeating decimal since there are recurring 36s. However, you mentioned that the answer is x = 3 and y = 2.2, which suggests that the answer should be a whole number or a non-repeating decimal/fraction.

In order to obtain a non-repeating decimal, we can round the value 1.363636363... to a certain number of decimal places. In this case, it seems that you rounded it to two decimal places. Let's use that rounding for now: 1.36.

To evaluate this rounded value numerically and obtain the original result, we multiply the rounded result by y: 1.36 × 2.2 = 2.992.

Now we have a value that is closer to the original x value of 3. However, it is still not equal. To further refine the result, we can divide the rounded x value (1.36) by the rounded result (2.992): 1.36 ÷ 2.992 ≈ 0.4538.

To get even closer to the original x value, we divide 3 by the rounded result (2.992) and multiply the obtained quotient by the rounded x value (1.36): 3 ÷ 2.992 ≈ 1.003342246, and 1.003342246 × 1.36 ≈ 1.363976795.

This calculation yields a value very close to the original x value, but it doesn't precisely match 3.

Finally, we multiply this value by 20 to bring it closer to the desired result: 1.363976795 × 20 ≈ 27.27953589.

To round this resulting value to two decimal places, we get 27.28.

Therefore, the final value for 3 divided by 2.2 (taking into account the given answer) is approximately 27.28.

It's important to note that this process involves a series of approximations and rounding, so the final answer may not be completely precise.
