Which is proper grammar?

1.)The maid comes in and does the massage.
OR
2.)The maid comes in and do the massage.

I personally think it is the first one, but i need your opinion.

Definitely number 1..

Thank you so much Ms. Sue.

You're welcome, Mbaintu.

The correct grammar in this case is:

1) "The maid comes in and does the massage."

In this sentence, the subject "maid" is singular, so the verb that follows should be in the third-person singular form, which is "does." The verb "do" is used for plural subjects or for the second-person singular subjects (you).

To verify this kind of grammar question in the future, you can follow these steps:

1. Identify the subject of the sentence. In this case, the subject is "maid."
2. Determine the number of the subject. Is it singular or plural? In this case, the subject "maid" is singular.
3. Apply the appropriate verb form based on the subject's number. For singular subjects, use the third-person singular form of the verb, which is "does."

By following these steps, you can determine the proper grammar in sentences for subjects and verbs.
