i don't get why the saying... "War is hell." is too generalized and i to need to explain it.
Everyone defines hell in his own way. Is it the fear of being killed or seriously wounded? Is it the hardships of fighting in extreme heat or cold or rain? Is it the psychological damage done to the troops who've been trained to kill? Is it all of these? Is it something else?
This is why you need to explain the sentence.
