I've completed all my body paragraphs and now I need to write my conclusion. However, I do not know how to start my conclusion. Several sights have said that I should start by restating the thesis but I think I'm missing a transistion sentance. I was thinking of saying something like "therefore..."

but I've used therefore in my actually body paragraphs so much when writing about the analysis. Any suggestions? Thanks :)

In conclusion, clearly, all in all, definitely, surely, to sum it up are all transitions to begin a conclusion paragraph.

Thanks

When writing a conclusion, it's essential to provide closure to your essay and leave a lasting impression on your readers. Restating your thesis is indeed a common approach, as it helps reinforce the main argument of your essay. However, starting your conclusion with a transition sentence that leads to the restatement of the thesis can add clarity and coherence to your writing.

If you feel that using the word "therefore" in your transition sentence might sound repetitive, you can explore alternative transition words or phrases that convey a similar meaning. Here are a few suggestions to help you with your transition:

1. Consequently/As a result: These phrases are great alternatives to "therefore" as they indicate cause-and-effect relationships, enabling a smooth transition into the restatement of your thesis.

Example transition sentence: "Consequently, the analysis conducted throughout this essay demonstrates the significant impact of [your thesis argument] on [your topic], underscoring the importance of..."

2. In conclusion/In summary: These phrases are commonly used to signal the beginning of a conclusion. While they may not directly replace "therefore," they can serve as effective transition phrases to introduce your restated thesis.

Example transition sentence: "In summary, the analysis conducted within the body paragraphs solidifies the central argument that [your thesis]. By exploring [key points highlighted in your analysis], it becomes evident that [restate your thesis argument]."

Remember, the ultimate goal of any conclusion is to wrap up your essay in a concise and effective manner. Choose a transition sentence that best suits the flow of your writing and helps seamlessly transition into the restatement of your thesis.
