What time of day is hotter, 12 noon or 2pm?

I know it's 2pm from experience, but I don't know why it's like that..

its because the suns rays are directly beating down on us around the middle of the day, its not as hot in the morning because the rays on hitting us on an angle, and same goes for the evening

Check this site that explains that it takes a while for the earth to heat up.

ok thanks

To understand why 2 PM is typically hotter than 12 noon, we need to consider the concept of solar radiation and the Earth's diurnal temperature variation.

Solar radiation is the energy received from the Sun that warms the Earth's surface. The intensity of solar radiation varies throughout the day due to the changing angle of the Sun. At noon, when the Sun is directly overhead, the solar radiation is most intense, and this is why many people assume it is the hottest time of the day. However, there is a delay between when the Sun is at its highest point and when the surface temperature reaches its peak.

One important factor to consider is the Earth's thermal inertia, which describes how slowly or quickly the land surface heats up or cools down. It takes some time for the Earth's surface to absorb and re-radiate the sun's energy, resulting in a time lag between solar noon and the peak of surface temperature.

Typically, it takes a few hours for the surface to fully absorb and re-radiate the solar energy it received at solar noon. Therefore, the highest surface temperatures usually occur a few hours after noon, around 2 PM or even later, depending on various factors such as latitude, weather conditions, and local geography.

This delay is also influenced by other factors such as air circulation, moisture, and cloud cover. These variables can affect the rate of heat transfer and can either enhance or diminish the daytime heating.

Keep in mind that this is a general pattern and might not be true for every location or every day. It's always a good idea to consult local weather forecasts and monitoring tools to get accurate information about specific temperatures at different times of the day.
