I have to write a persuasive speech about religion and I was wondering what would be some good ideas to base my speech off?

I was thinking something like... religion is relevant anymore, or religion causes more bad then good.

Any other ideas? It has to be 3-5 minutes long by the way. Thank you very much.

Excuse me, I meant religion ISN'T relevant anymore.

I think you're on the right track.

If religion is irrelevant, perhaps you could say that most religions are based upon myths that science has proven wrong. If you choose religion causes more bad than good, you could cite the innumerable wars and violent conflicts caused by religious interpretations.

When it comes to writing a persuasive speech about religion, it's important to come up with ideas that are thought-provoking and generate meaningful discussion. Here are a few alternative ideas you can consider:

1. The impact of religion on society: Explore how religion has shaped different cultures, influenced important historical events, and played a role in social movements or political decisions.

2. The psychological and emotional benefits of religious beliefs: Discuss how religion provides a sense of purpose, comfort during difficult times, and a framework for moral decision-making.

3. The role of religion in fostering tolerance and understanding: Highlight examples of interfaith dialogue, religious tolerance, and how religion can bridge cultural gaps.

4. The relationship between science and religion: Analyze how science and religion can coexist or challenge each other, focusing on instances where scientific advancements align with religious beliefs or create tensions.

5. Religion and personal identity: Discuss how religion can shape an individual's values, beliefs, and sense of self, and highlight personal stories that demonstrate the significance of religious identity.

Remember, regardless of the topic you choose, it's essential to present a balanced argument by acknowledging both the positive and negative aspects. Good luck with your persuasive speech, and don't forget to back up your points with evidence and examples!
