Why is water liquid and carbon dioxide gas? Based on things like polarity, polar vs. non-polar

carbon dioxide is a linear molecule, O=C=O, which has no net polarity (two negatives on each end)

Water is a bent molecule in which the O and the Hs form a bent molecule with a negative end O, and a net postive end (two H). The polar molecules attract each other, have a strong bond, which hold it in liquid form until a higher temperature disrupts it.
