I accually read this book....the setting of it is June-july 1863. the palce was in Gettysburng, PA. a farm surrounded by hills and ridges...the confederate control seminary ridge and the union controls cemetry hill, cemetry ridge, culp's hill and little round top and big round top...one of the major conflict that i remembered was that the confederate states fight a war against the union to establish their right to secede.

does that help?

Yes, that helps! The setting of "Killer Angels" is Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in June-July 1863. The main conflicts in the first part of the book (pages 1-68) revolve around the Civil War and the Battle of Gettysburg specifically. Here are three conflicts that occur:

1. Confederate versus Union forces: The primary conflict in the book is the war between the Confederate and Union armies. The Confederacy fights to establish their right to secede from the Union, while the Union fights to preserve the United States as one nation.

2. Control of specific locations: Within the Battle of Gettysburg, there are several conflicts over the control of key locations, such as Seminary Ridge (controlled by the Confederacy) and Cemetery Hill, Cemetery Ridge, Culp's Hill, Little Round Top, and Big Round Top (controlled by the Union). The book depicts the strategic importance of these positions during the battle.

3. Internal conflicts within the armies: Alongside the external conflicts between the two armies, "Killer Angels" also explores internal conflicts within the armies themselves. For example, there may be disagreements between officers or soldiers questioning their motives for fighting. These internal conflicts add depth to the story and provide insight into the individual experiences of the characters.

As for creating a spy name from the Civil War era, you can get creative and think of a name that sounds intriguing and fits the time period. Some examples could be "Silent Shadow," "Iron Mask," or "Scarlet Hawk." Remember to consider the historical context and try to come up with a name that suits the secretive and covert nature of a spy.
