Can someone please help. I need to check these answers. I am studying for finals.

2. The expression that we are "one world" or part of a global community refers to the understanding that _______.
A. instant communications have made the world "smaller" than ever
B. terrorism and nuclear weaponry mean that no nation can be isolated from the rest of the world
C. economic interpendence forces Americans to concern themselves with foreign affairs
D. All of the above

I think it's D? right?

4. The one historic continuing and overriding goal of American foreign policy is ________.
A. protecting investment abroad by American corporations
B. helping less developed countries improve their standard of living
C. safeguarding the security of the United States
D. preventing Communist takeover of America's allies

I'm really not sure about this one. I believe it's either C or D, but I am leaning towards D.

9. The Gulf War in 1991, showed our resolve to _______.
A. protect our allies against aggression
B. keep the oil lines open in Kuwait
C. protect our economic interest in the Middle East
D. none of the above

I think it's A but not sure.

10. The war in South Korea in 1950, and the war in Vietnam in the 1960's - 1970's showed that our resolve at that time was to _______.
A. contain communism in Southeast Asia
B. protect United States borders
C. correct human rights violations
D. establish the political supremacy of the United States

I think it's either A or C but am not sure

#2 - I think you're right.

#4 - D is an old goal -- that was Korea and Vietnam.

#9 - Too bad D isn't "All of the above"!!! I'm sure our government at the time would have said A.

#10 - It's probably A. The whole issue of "human rights" didn't surface until well after the Vietnam war.

Other teachers may have further comments.

=)

I agree with Writeacher on these... <G>

I think it's D? right? Correct.

4. The one historic continuing and overriding goal of American foreign policy is ________.
A. protecting investment abroad by American corporations
B. helping less developed countries improve their standard of living
C. safeguarding the security of the United States
D. preventing Communist takeover of America's allies

I'm really not sure about this one. I believe it's either C or D, but I am leaning towards D. Communism was a major threat for less than 50 years. Throughout our history, though, the goal of our foreign policy has been to keep the U.S. safe.

9. The Gulf War in 1991, showed our resolve to _______.
A. protect our allies against aggression
B. keep the oil lines open in Kuwait
C. protect our economic interest in the Middle East
D. none of the above

I think it's A but not sure. A cynic could argue that all of the answers are correct. But since that doesn't seem to be an option, A is probably the best answer.

10. The war in South Korea in 1950, and the war in Vietnam in the 1960's - 1970's showed that our resolve at that time was to _______.
A. contain communism in Southeast Asia
B. protect United States borders
C. correct human rights violations
D. establish the political supremacy of the United States

I think it's either A or C but am not sure A is correct. If we were concerned about human rights violations, we'd be fighting wars all over the world.
