In a class of 50 pupils, 24 like oranges,23 like apples, and 7 like the 2 fruits. How many do not like oranges ane apples, and what percentage of the class likes apples only

Wow, you actually complained that nobody responded after 1 minute of posting!

Did you try using Venn diagrams?

You only need two overlapping circles, put 7 in the intersection.
Since the 24 liking oranges would include the 7 for both, the "only orange"
part would be 17, and the only apple part would be 16
adding those up gives us 40.
But there were 50 pupils, so what does it tell you about the remaining 10 students?
You should be able to answer all the individual cases

No respond

impatient much? You start griping after only one minute?

Did you do a Venn diagram?
Here's a start.
24+23-7 = 40
so 10 do not like either fruit.

Now finish it off.

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

24-7+7+23-7 = 40

Universal set; 50 - 40 = 10

To find the number of pupils who do not like oranges and apples, we can subtract the number of pupils who like both fruits from the total number of pupils in the class.

Total number of pupils = 50
Number of pupils who like both fruits = 7

Number of pupils who do not like oranges and apples = Total number of pupils - Number of pupils who like both fruits
= 50 - 7
= 43

Therefore, 43 pupils do not like oranges and apples.

To find the percentage of the class that likes apples only, we need to find the number of pupils who like apples only and express it as a percentage of the total number of pupils in the class.

Number of pupils who like apples only = Number of pupils who like apples - Number of pupils who like both fruits
= 23 - 7
= 16

Percentage of the class that likes apples only = (Number of pupils who like apples only / Total number of pupils) * 100
= (16 / 50) * 100
= 32%

Therefore, 32% of the class likes apples only.
