a cliff on the bank of a river is 250mm.if the angle of elevation of a point on the opposite side of the river is 50;find the width of the river

Trying to make sense of your gibberish ....

Your cliff is 25 cm high??

anyway ....

if the width of the river is x cm
then tan50° = 25/x
x = 25/tan50 cm = 20.98 cm or appr 210 mm, using your units.

We must be living in Toyland, a river 21 cm wide !!!!

I can not follow this.

The cliff is two and a half meters high ? No way.
The angle of elevation of What Point? Looking up from the cliff?
The angle is 50 what? minutes? radians? degrees?
If a vertical cliff is 250 meters higher than you are and the angle you measure from horizontal to the top of it is 50 degrees then
tan 50 = 250/ x
where x is the horizontal distance from you to the cliff.
