Prepare 10 ml of 1% (w/v) stock solution of KMno4

1% w/v KMnO4 means 1 g KMnO4/100 mL solution. So if you want only 10 mL you will need 1 g KMnO4 x 10 mL/100 mL = ? g KMnO4 in 10 mL solution.

1g×10ml/100ml= 0.1 g

How to prepare 10ml kmno4

To prepare a 10 ml of 1% (w/v) stock solution of KMno4, you will need the following:

1. Calculate the mass of KMno4 needed:
- "1% (w/v)" means 1 gram of KMno4 dissolved in 100 ml of solution.
- So, for a 10 ml solution, we need 1/10th of 1 gram (or 0.1 grams) of KMno4.

2. Weigh out 0.1 grams of KMno4 using a digital balance. Ensure that the balance is calibrated and set to zero before weighing.

3. Transfer the weighed KMno4 into a small beaker or a glass container.

4. Add distilled water to the beaker and stir gently until all the KMno4 is dissolved. Make sure to add just enough water to dissolve the solid but not more than 10 ml, as that is the final volume we want.

5. Once the KMno4 is completely dissolved, transfer the solution carefully into a 10 ml volumetric flask using a pipette or a graduated cylinder.

6. Rinse the beaker and the pipette with distilled water to ensure all of the solution is transferred to the volumetric flask.

7. Fill the volumetric flask up to the 10 ml line. To do this, use a dropper or pipette to add water to the flask slowly while keeping an eye on the volume scale on the flask.

8. Once the solution reaches the 10 ml mark, stop adding water.

9. Cap the volumetric flask tightly and invert it gently a few times to ensure thorough mixing of the solution.

10. Your 10 ml of 1% (w/v) stock solution of KMno4 is ready for use. Make sure to label it properly, including the concentration and date of preparation. Store it in a cool, dark place for better shelf life.
