essay #9: The author uses third person view. The text is from Mina's perspective even though it's in third person, so we don't know who's on the other side of the door. "Intrigued, she picked it up and took one last look around." using the word intrigued makes the reader just as intrigued as the character.
essay#10: "Owen closed his eyes and gulped", showing that Owen is most likely hesitant about something. "His stomach was full of butterflies, and his palms were wet." When people talk about butterflies in the stomachs it usually means their nerves are all over the place. "Here goes nothing" Owen is taking a step and overcoming his fear.

One day her swim practice was canceled, so she decided to grab her colored pencils and her little sister's coloring book and get to work.
