and these are the questions am I right?

4. Why do you think a young girl was chosen to go to her death each time? What does that suggest about the society Tokoyo was living in?

5. What do you think the purpose of this folktale is?

and if those are the questions then these are the answers.

4.well I think that the evil god demanded for a young girl every year because (well it could be for any reason right I mean like it said nothing about it anyway &>#) maybe just maybe there are too many girls in that kind of land. (I'm sorry if this is a dumb answer but that's my guess)

5. I think the purpose of the folktale is to express feeling like you know how the story started out sad and gray now at the end of the story is happy, exciting, and kind of like the color yellow.

🧡I really hope this is the answer you're looking for I actually have no idea if this will be right or not but this is the best I got I'm only a preteen in 6th grade after all am I right? 🤷‍♀️ and you said you're British and live in England wow that's far away from here! anyway hope this is alright something is better than nothing!

OH HI, IM SORRY

story: the people of tokoyos village made their livelihood diving for pearls. they searched for the one oyster in a thousand that contained a pearl.tokoyo was the youngest of the divers. she could stay underwater longer and collect more oysters than anyone. the sea was like a second home to her .she swam easily through its depths. she cut oysters from the rock s with her razor-sharp pearling knife.
the other pearl divers were all the family that tokoyo had. her mother had died when she was a baby and her father was banished for joking about the emperor which was a crime. and to make matters worse, they were forbidden to talk to each other. she felt like an orphan. tokoyos 1 desire was to see her father so on her 15th birthday, she left her village and went to the island that her dad was banished to. soon after landing on the island, she saw a group of people standing on a cliff. with them was a girl dressed in white, the same age as her. people explained to tokoyo that an evil sea god made its way to the waters of the island and that this god demanded the life of a girl every year. they told tokoyo that the girl cowering behind them was the next victim. they said that the sea god also cast a spell on the emperor causing him many ailments. when she heard this, tokoyo saw this as a chance to help her father. she begged the people to let her take the girl's place and they deliberated about it until they said yes. she walked to the edge of the cliff, took a deep breath and leapt into the water. at the bottom of the sea, she found herself face to face with the sea god and she attacked him with her pearling knife. the spell he had cast on the emperor was broken. when he learned of tokoyos brave deed her granted her anything that she wished for. as a result of tokoyo's wish, her father regained freedom and was happily reunited with his daughter.
