Hitler entered France by conquering this nation on its northwestern border_________.

This question was on a test I just got back today and I can't figure it out.

Isn't the only nation on the northwest border of France Great Britain??? Anyway, the answer is not Great Britain, b cuz that is what I put and I obviously got it wrong.

~thnx in advance*

Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum. Have you looked at a map of Europe to see what is on the northwest border of France?

The only thing I can see is Britain on the northwestern side. Am I missing something? I mean, what other counries are northwest of France, besides Britain and Ireland (Ireland was a wrong answer too)

On a European map, look directly northwest of France; you will see a small country that Germany would need to go through.

Switzerland? Belgium? Normandy??!??

To answer the question, Hitler entered France by conquering the nation on its northwestern border, which is Belgium. Belgium is the country directly to the northwest of France.

If you were unable to figure this out on your own, it may be helpful to review a map of Europe to familiarize yourself with the geography and the countries that border France. By examining a map, you can visually see the countries that surround France and their relative positions.
