I have a question on Ghandi. Okay, my brother's 3rd grade teacher assigned him to do some kind of project on Ghandi for Black History month... Is Ghandi even black?

Gandhi wasn't black by American standards, although he was considered black by South African standards.

Black History month is designed to celebrate African-Americans. Since Gandhi was neither African nor American, he doesn't qualify.

It's possible that the teacher assigned Mahatma Gandhi because of the influence he had on Dr. King and the Civil Rights movement. In which case, he's an important person to study this month.

These sites will help your brother understand Gandhi.

Story writing

No, Mahatma Gandhi, commonly known as Gandhi, was not black. He was actually of Indian descent. Gandhi was a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement and is often referred to as the "Father of the Nation" in India. While his efforts and philosophy influenced many people around the world, he is not specifically associated with Black History Month. If your brother's teacher assigned a project on Gandhi for Black History Month, it might be worth clarifying with the teacher to understand the reasoning behind the choice.
