When a ball is tossed to a height of 4 meters above the ground i t always rebound to 40% of its previous height until it stop .Ring the total distance that the ball has covered when it strikes the ground for the fifth time

for the nth bounce, it travels

4 * 2 * 0.40^n
So this is just a GP with
a = 8
r = 0.40
So, after 4 round trips, it has gone
S4 = 8(1 - 0.4^4)/(1-0.4) meters
Add to that the initial 4m drop.

Thank you for this.. Thank you cause this answer can help me my module... Thank you so much...hope somebody's can you help....😘

HALLO PEOPLE-can someone pls answer me question?

Brianna solved a two-step equation, but she made a mistake along the way.

0.1x + 3 = 1.7
(-3) + 0.1x + 3 = 1.7 + (-3) Line 1
0.1x = -1.3 Line 2
(-0.1) + 0.1x = -1.3 + (-0.1) Line 3
x = -1.4 Line 4
What mistake did Brianna make?
On Line 1, Brianna should have subtracted 3 instead of adding -3.
On Line 1, Brianna violated the addition property of equality.
On Line 3, Brianna should have divided by 0.1 instead of subtracting 0.1.
On Line 3, Brianna violated the addition property of equality.

To determine the total distance the ball has covered when it strikes the ground for the fifth time, we need to calculate the sum of all the distances covered during each rebound.

Given that the ball rebounds to 40% of its previous height, we can use this information to find the distances covered during each rebound:

1st rebound: The ball reaches a height of 4 meters, rebounds to 40% of that height, which is 4 * 0.40 = 1.6 meters.
2nd rebound: The ball reaches a height of 1.6 meters, rebounds to 40% of that height, which is 1.6 * 0.40 = 0.64 meters.
3rd rebound: The ball reaches a height of 0.64 meters, rebounds to 40% of that height, which is 0.64 * 0.40 = 0.256 meters.
4th rebound: The ball reaches a height of 0.256 meters, rebounds to 40% of that height, which is 0.256 * 0.40 = 0.1024 meters.
5th rebound: The ball reaches a height of 0.1024 meters, rebounds to 40% of that height, which is 0.1024 * 0.40 = 0.04096 meters.

Now, let's sum up the distances covered during each rebound:

Total distance = 4 + 1.6 + 0.64 + 0.256 + 0.1024 + 0.04096 = 6.64336 meters

Therefore, the total distance covered when the ball strikes the ground for the fifth time is approximately 6.64336 meters.
