Any species can adapt to new places/new environments because of variation. Which gives them a survival advantage. To go out on their own when they are at age to do so.

The birds with a big beak can crack seeds to eat and will not have a problem trying to open food. Birds with a smaller beak will not be able to break big seeds. Smaller birds can break small seeds with their small beak, unlike big birds.
