My answer

I believe that it is very important for the writer to consider the type of audience they will be writing for because it will allow them to communicate with their audience effectively. For instance, if you are writing to your supervisor, boss or someone higher up you would write differently than if you were writing to your coworkers, friends or family. Collecting the most information as possible about who you will be reading your document will aid you in knowing how much they know about the topic you are discussing. If the reader does not know anything at all or very little about the topic then more information will be need. However, if the reader has great knowledge about the particular topic you would not have to go into as much detail. Keeping in mind such things as age, level of education, demographics, and gender plays an essential part in who will be presented with the information that is written.

Several years ago, a friend of mine asked me if I could write a letter of recommendation for them, they were applying for a job at a local hospital. Knowing that the audience in which I was writing was very important because it could have had a negative effect on whether my friend got the job or not.

Sorry no one has replied to this. Just when to the earliest question and thought I would answer.

Sounds good to me, you did a good job. You are probably done with this, at least I hope you are.. and you mostly won't see this.

Only thing I would correct would be changing "who" to "whom" when you say "about who you will be reading your document". Also I'd change the word "in" to the word "to" when you say "Knowing that the audience in which I was writing". These corrections really don't make a difference.

Good job.

Your answer is a good start. It addresses the importance of considering the audience when writing or speaking. However, here are some suggestions to improve and expand your answer:

1. In the first paragraph, you mention the importance of collecting information about the audience's knowledge of the topic. You can further elaborate on this point by explaining how understanding the audience's level of familiarity with the subject allows you to tailor your message accordingly. This could involve using appropriate terminology, providing necessary background information, or adjusting the level of detail in your communication.

2. Consider expanding on the different factors that might influence how you communicate with a specific audience. For example, you briefly mention age, level of education, demographics, and gender. You can elaborate on each of these factors and explain how they might impact your approach. For instance, age can determine the tone and style of writing, while gender and demographics can provide insights into cultural or social considerations that should be taken into account.

3. In the second paragraph, when discussing your personal experience, you can provide more specific details about the situation. How did you modify your approach to writing the letter of recommendation based on the audience? Did you consider the values or qualities the hospital might be looking for in a candidate? How did you emphasize your friend's strengths and suitability for the job?

4. Lastly, try to reach the target word count (at least 150 words) by further expanding on your ideas and providing additional examples or instances where understanding the audience influenced your communication approach. This will help make your answer more comprehensive and provide a stronger explanation.

Remember, it's important to always consider your audience's perspective when communicating, as it allows you to effectively convey your message and increase the chances of achieving your desired outcome.
