Which option accurately describes Ferdinand Magellan and his motivation for exploring the world?
A. He was a Portuguese explorer who sailed for Spain; he ended up sailing around the world.
B. He was an English explorer who sailed for Queen Elizabeth; he set out to find the fabled city of gold El Dorado.
C. He was a Florentine explorer who sailed for Spain; he set out to prove the New World was separate from Asia.
D. He was an Italian explorer who sailed for King Ferdinand; he ended up discovering America.
I know its not D or B
I feel its A because he was first in doing circumnavigation of the Earth
@Writeacher
Districts Do :) But the thing is they like to throw you off to make sure you're really paying attention
I agree. I've taken and given reading tests that are more like "can you find your way through these trick questions" tests. But I take issue with the text and test writers for making these kinds of questions and answer choices so convoluted. It's not necessary, IMO.
THANK YOU MRS.SUE!!
You're welcome, Romie.
You're right, it's not B or D. It is not C because Magellan was Portuguese, not from Florence.
Although he himself died en route, his expedition continued with his plans and sailed around the world.
