Hello! I am am a flute player. I would like to know how to properly get tuned sound.

1. I know how to make okay sound, but I am unable to make much sound due to my cold.
2. I am not very good at tuning.
3. I found a few good videos, but I still can’t get the sound.
4. I am unable to deliver enough air for a constant sound (off key or not.)
5. Is there any other way to figure out enough air is going outside of the mouthpiece hole other than using your finger?
6. I am unable to support the flute without relaxing my muscles which is as long as the top of my thigh to my ankle.
7. Any tips? Please help me.
8. Despite my repeated practice to get sound again, I can’t get it.
Thank you!

My you girls have a problem. Normal people do not talk to themselves in public!

I have two grandsons who played different wind instruments (oboe and clarinet) in their school bands, including one who played in marching band, concert band, and full orchestra while in high school.

Both of them benefited greatly from having private lessons with experts in their chosen instruments. Both of them improved so much, I was really surprised -- happily so, but still surprised! Your music teacher should be able to make recommendations.

You'll benefit from private music lessons if your parents want you to learn well from someone who plays that instrument well. I hope you'll discuss this with your parents. You can't learn these things online or from a book!

I agree Writeacher. My younger daughter also played the flute and benefitted greatly from having a private flute teacher.

Hey there! I am also having the same difficulty.

Hi that is also happening with me too. The videos show how people do what I am doing and they easily get it but I can’t

Hello! I see you are having trouble. Don’t worry, it’s absolutely normal! Even I had trouble when I first started the flute. I recommend this set of videos to help you. Please check it out!
