Navin from Mauritius, Luka from Croatia, and Ian from Botswana are chatting in the lobby of a youth hostel discussing their part-time jobs. They learn that Navin makes 160 rupee per hour, Luka makes 25 kuna per hour, and Ian makes 34 pula per hour. If one US dollar is equivalent to 32.35 Mauritius rupee, 5.18 Croatian kuna, and 6.95 Botswana pula, who would earn the most after working an eight-hour day?

I did my calculations and Navin is the one who earns the most

So whats the answer

It says who will earn the most...

stop cheating on alcumus

Also, the question asks for you to find the person with the highest pay in USD. Like Charles stated, you didn't really find the answer, you just showed part of it. The reason why the asker posted this question is because he doesn't know the answer or needs help, so maybe you could tell us the actual answer to the problem.

My solution is that Navin is the one who earns the most money out of an 8 hour work day.

PsyDAG, you got it wrong. If you look at your first comment on this question, you stated:

"1 ruppee = 1.00/32.35 dollars"
"160 ruppee = 16(1/32.35)"
"= 16/32.35 dollars or $0.49"
However, you multiplied the 1 ruppee by 160 to turn it into 160 ruppee, so you have to do the same on the other side. 1.00/32.25 times 160 is 160/32.25, while you stated that it was 16/32.35. The correct answer should be about 4.95, while you got 0.49. As you can see, you were a whole decimal point off. Be more careful next time please, for your teaching people on the internet the wrong answer.

As you can see, you contradicted yourself in your second comment by saying:

"However, I think if 1 ruppee = 1.00/32.35 dollars
then 160 ruppee = 160(1/32.35) leading to $4.90"
This time, you got the calculation right, so I'm sort of confused by your "right answer"

Since the US dollar is the point of reference for all 3 currencies, just convert all currencies to US dollars. Then it is easy to compare

If will do the first you do the other two.
32.35 Mauritius rupee = $1.00
1 ruppee = 1.00/32.35 dollars
160 ruppee = 16(1/32.35)
= 16/32.35 dollars or $0.49 , notice the very last calculation.

Use the same method for the other two outlined by Reiny and compare the results.

However, I think if 1 ruppee = 1.00/32.35 dollars
then 160 ruppee = 160(1/32.35) leading to $4.90

As I said before, calculate the earnings for each using the method indicated by Reiny and compare the three.
