Can somebody please help me?
I need 5 points that are solutions to 2x + -1 = y
If you can explain to me how you did it, it would be great!
It's just that nobody explained to me how.
Thanks
put in any old x
for example x = 0
then
0 - 1 = y
-1 = y
so the point is (0 , -1)
then put in another x, like x = 2
2*2 - 1 = y
4 - 1 = y
3 = y
so the point is (2, 3)
now do there more :)
Thank you very much Damon your response really helped me.

Certainly! To find the solutions to the equation 2x + -1 = y, we can substitute different values for x and then solve for y. Here's how you can find 5 points that are solutions to this equation:
1. Start by selecting a value for x. Let's say we choose x = 0.
Substitute this value into the equation: 2(0) + -1 = y.
Solve the equation: 0 + -1 = y.
The result is y = -1. So the first point is (0, -1).
2. Now select another value for x. Let's choose x = 1.
Substitute x = 1 into the equation: 2(1) + -1 = y.
Solve the equation: 2 + -1 = y.
The result is y = 1. Therefore, the second point is (1, 1).
3. Repeat the process with a different value for x. Let's take x = -1.
Substitute x = -1 into the equation: 2(-1) + -1 = y.
Solve the equation: -2 + -1 = y.
The result is y = -3. So the third point is (-1, -3).
4. Continue the process with two more values for x. Let's choose x = 2 and x = -2.
For x = 2: 2(2) + -1 = y. Solve to get y = 3. The fourth point is (2, 3).
For x = -2: 2(-2) + -1 = y. Solve to get y = -5. The fifth point is (-2, -5).
Therefore, the five points that satisfy the equation 2x + -1 = y are (0, -1), (1, 1), (-1, -3), (2, 3), and (-2, -5).
I hope this explanation helps! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
