i was assigned a project to recreate a famous photo with my own black and white camera. it can be of anything that would be easy to recreate-people or places. i live in london. who are some famous photographers (portrait or other) or some famous photos that i could do?

thanks!!! :)

I beleieve that one of the best artists of all time is leonardo divinci, the best thing you can do is go to google and look up photographers, past photographers or black and white portraits etc.

The photo of London that sticks in my mind is of St. Paul's Cathedral during WWII. All around it is smoke from the bombs, yet St. Paul's remained virtually unscathed.

That sounds like an interesting project! Recreating famous black and white photos with your own camera can be a great way to explore different photography styles and techniques. Here are a few famous photographers and their iconic black and white photos that you could consider recreating:

1. Henri Cartier-Bresson: Known as the father of modern photojournalism, Cartier-Bresson captured everyday moments with great precision and timing. Consider recreating his photo "Behind the Gare Saint-Lazare" or any of his intimate street scenes.

2. Dorothea Lange: A documentary photographer famous for her work during the Great Depression, Lange's iconic photo "Migrant Mother" is a powerful representation of the era. You could recreate this portrait or any other of her evocative images.

3. Robert Capa: An iconic war photographer, Capa captured some of the most intense moments of conflict. Consider recreating his photo "Death of a Loyalist Soldier" from the Spanish Civil War, or any of his other war photographs.

4. Ansel Adams: Known for his stunning landscape photography, Adams' black and white images of Yosemite National Park are particularly famous. You could try recreating one of his landscapes, such as "Clearing Winter Storm."

5. Irving Penn: A renowned portrait photographer, Penn captured the essence of his subjects in a distinct style. Consider recreating his portrait "Miles Davis" or any other of his timeless portraits.

Remember, when recreating a famous photo, try to understand the composition, lighting, and emotional impact of the original image. Experiment with different angles, lighting conditions, and perspectives to make the photo your own interpretation.

Also, consider researching more about these famous photographers, their techniques, and philosophies. This way, you can better understand their approach and apply it to your own recreation. Good luck with your project, and have fun exploring the world of black and white photography in London!
