I am trying to find what I need for this Checkpoint tonight and can not find it.. PLease help me... I am so frustrated.. If I have recently posted this I aplogize.

Consider that in recent years several states have abandoned bilingual education, but
advocacy groups have argued that something must be done to help English Language
Learners master necessary competencies.
· Complete an Internet search to find at least two instances of conflicts between the legal
and ethical issues confronting the education of English Language Learners. For example,
some states have ceased funding for bilingual education and may not instruct the ELL
students in their native languages. However, the issue still remains that the schools are
responsible for instructing ELL students and those students have to learn English in order
to succeed in school. How do schools meet the needs of the ELL students without
breaking state laws?
· Cite the URLs for the selected instances according to APA guidelines.
· Summarize both sides of each issue in 350 to 500 words.

First of all, "help asap" does NOT tell us what kind of help you need. If it's language, that's my field. Try: English language or something similar for the title of the post!

(meantime I'll try to look for something for you)

i just do not know what to use and write and I am running out of time.

Dawn -- you need to read the links that Sra posted for you. Find those that meet your requirements. Study them and take notes.

For me (a retired teacher with a master's degree) this research would take at least an hour. Then taking notes and writing answers to the questions would take another two or three hours.

How much time and effort have you spent in researching this question?

i have and I am trying

Jiskha more often than not slaps you in the face vs giving support and ideas to get you jump started. Wouldn't you HATE to have these people as a teacher?!?

YEPPPPP!!!!

The links actually help.. just saying..

To find instances of conflicts between the legal and ethical issues confronting the education of English Language Learners, you can follow these steps:

1. Start by conducting an internet search using appropriate keywords related to the topic. For instance, you could search for "conflicts between legal and ethical issues in the education of English Language Learners."

2. Review the search results to find reliable and relevant sources. It's important to choose reputable websites, such as government publications, educational institutions, or respected organizations dedicated to language education.

3. Read through the selected sources to identify instances of conflicts between legal and ethical issues in the education of English Language Learners. Look for specific cases or examples that highlight the tensions between legal requirements and ethical considerations.

4. Once you have found two instances that meet the requirements, note down the URLs or website addresses for each source. This information will be needed to cite them properly later on.

APA (American Psychological Association) guidelines are commonly used for academic writing and require specific formatting for citations. To cite the URLs in APA style, use the following format:

Author's Last Name, First Initial. (Year, Month Day). Title of webpage/document. Site Name. URL

For example, if you found a source from the U.S. Department of Education, it might be cited as follows:

U.S. Department of Education. (n.d.). Laws and guidance related to English language learners. Retrieved from https://example.com/laws-and-guidance

Once you have completed these steps and collected the necessary information, you can proceed to summarize both sides of each issue in 350 to 500 words. Remember to provide objective and balanced perspectives on each issue, presenting the arguments or positions from both sides.
