Compute the following.

𝘂 = 5𝗶 − 𝗷, 𝘃 = −2𝗶 + 𝗷

a) u+v
b) u-v
c) 2u+3v
d) 1/2v + 4u

I believe I answered that same question for you a few days ago

www.jiskha.com/questions/1787255/Compute-the-following-then-sketch-each-resultant-vector-5

the answers i got were wrong so i am reposting this same question

can someone help me please?

the answers i got are

a) 3i
b) 7i-2j
c) 16i-5j
d) -5.5i+3.5j
but my online assignment are telling me that the answers are wrong

u+v = 3i

what do you get for the others?

this is what i got for the others

b) 7i-2j
c) 16i-5j
d) -5.5i+3.5j

2u+3v cannot be 16i, since 10+3(-2) is not 16

I think you did 1/2 u + 4v

the answer for 2u+3v

2(5i-j)+3(-2i+j)
=10i-2+(-6)i+3j
=4i +j
is this correct?

hello? is anyone going to help me??

You changed the question I had done for you

At that time you had:

2u - 3v
= 2(5𝗶 − 𝗷) - 3(−2𝗶 + 𝗷)
= 10i - 2j + 6i - 3j
= 16i - 5j

That answer is correct.
now you have 2u + 3v

Now which is it ?
