15. The differences in the way in which the Native Americans and the European settlers were interacting with the environment are total contrasts.
The Native Americans lived in harmony with the environment. If they took down a tree for their needs, they were going to plant another one on that place. They hunted only enough for their basic needs and nothing more, plus were careful what they hunt, in which period of the year. They were not familiar with the minerals, so they were not doing any damage to mining.
The European settlers, on the other hand, were taking down a lot of timber and suing it for building, for smelting ore, or for heating. They started to exploit the minerals in the regions, which led to mining, and to inevitable pollution and destruction of those areas. They were over-hunting, without taking in consideration that they may eliminate some species. Started to build infrastructure, either in forested areas that were cleaned for that purpose or on fertile land.
16. The state of Washington has a very good location which benefits its economy and development a lot. The state is located in the northwestern part of the United States. It comes out on the Pacific Ocean, and it has a nice coastline which is suitable for ports. Also, it is bordering Canada and is in very close proximity to the biggest Canadian ports on the Pacific Ocean.
This results in a lot of trade going through this state, be it between the USA and Canada, or between the USA and Asia. Also, it is a state that not only has ports but has one of the most important ports, through which one of the largest amounts of products and goods go through. They are then distributed throughout the country, or vice versa, they are brought from all over the country.
17. I would choose the windmills for the production of electric power.
The modern-day windmills are relatively good producers of electric energy. They are not very expensive, they use renewable energy (the wind), and are of great use for both the economy and the people themselves.
The economic benefit can be seen that they produce energy very cheaply, and they do not require and resources for their functioning. Also, they save a lot of money because they manage to produce electricity that otherwise would have been imported, thus hitting the economy badly.
The benefit for the people is that they provide more electricity, stable one, and prevent the lack of electricity when it is used more, especially in the winter months. Also, this electricity is cheaper.
18. Positive impacts begin when there is an increase in job opportunities for locals as the tourism industry becomes more developed.
