A rectangle is 24 cm long and 7 cm wide. How long is the diagonal of the rectangle?

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

7^2 + b^2 = 24^2 ?
49 + b^2 = 576
-49 -49
= /527 = 22.95 ?

so 24 is the hypotenuse and 7 is a leg ? so ...

a^2 + b ^2 = c^2
7^2 + b ^2 = 24^2 ?

Read the problem.

A rectangle is 24 cm long and 7 cm wide

How long is the diagonal of the rectangle? The diagonal is the hypotenuse.

You might as well learn a few basic right triangles with integer side lengths:

3-4-5
5-12-13
7-24-25
8-15-17
and multiples of them, like 6-8-10, etc.
Being able to recognize these will save you a lot of time doing the computation; they show up quite often.

Please show me the answer to the question in perticuler.

No. The a and b are the two sides of the triangle. c is the hypotenuse. You included the hypotenuse as one of the two sides.

Use the formula I showed you on your last post.

What is your answer?
